Matthew 24-25 Overview

Matthew 24-25
Key Verse 24:03

3 As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?””

  1. Look at Mt.24:1-3. What 2 questions do the disciples ask Jesus? What value might there be in knowing the answers to these questions?

  2. Look at Mt.24:4-14. What warning does Jesus give to the disciples in these verses?
Why might these events discourage Christians and cause them to fall away, betray one another, and be led astray? Why might it be important to be aware of these signs?

  3. Look at Mt.24:15-31. What is the ‘abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel’? (See Daniel 11:31-12:13) Why might it be important to be aware of this sign?

  4. Look at Mt.24:32-35. What is the ‘fig tree’s lesson’?

  5. Look at Mt.24:36-51. How does Jesus answer the disciples' question ‘when will this be?’ in these verses? In light of Jesus’ answer, what does Jesus tell the disciples to do?

  6. Look at Mt.25:1-13. What did the 5 wise virgins do that made them wise? What did the 5 foolish virgins do that made them foolish? What was the outcome?

  7. Look at Mt.25:14-30. What did the 2 servants do that made them ‘good and faithful’? What did the 3rd servant do that made him ‘wicked and slothful’? What was the outcome?

  8. Look at Mt.25:31-46. What will happen at the end when the Son of Man comes in his glory? What did the sheep do and what did the goats not do?
